Saint Petersburg Airport or Pulkovo Airport (IATA: LED, ICAO: ULLI) is an international airport serving the city of Saint Petersburg, the second largest city in Russia. It also serves the Leningrad Oblast. The airport is located 23 kilometers south of Saint Petersburg city centre (Palace Square). The airport serves as a hub for Rossiya Airlines and is a focus city for Nordavia.

Pulkovo Airport was a state owned airport until 2010. Since then, an international consortium operates the airport and a new terminal has been built. Saint Petersburg Airport or Pulkovo Airport is the fourth busiest airport in Russia.
The busiest routes are domestic flights. In 2017, the airport handled over 16 million passengers. It is indded the highest number in terms of passenger traffic so far that the airport registered.

 

Terminal

Saint Petersburg Airport, or Pulkovo Airport, has a single and large passenger terminal, serving both domestic and international flights within the same premises, in a very efficient way. This terminal replaces old terminals Pulkovo 1 and Pulkovo 2.

 

The construction of the new terminal began in 2010 and was opened in December 3, 2013. All flights were transferred to this terminal in February 2014. It has a capacity of 17 million passengers per year.

 

The terminal has 4 floors, 88 Check-in counters, 17 departure gates and 110 aircraft parking stands.

 

Present & Future

It is expected that between 2018 and 2025 there a new domestic terminal will be build, which will be connected to Terminal 1. That will include eastern and southern piers, and parking stands.

The main terminal in Saint Petersburg Airport has four levels:

 

- First Floor (Ground Floor): Arrivals Level and baggage carrousels.

 

- Second Level: Security checkpoint, passport control area, tourist center and recreational area.

 

- Third Level: Departures and customs area.

 

- Fourth Level: Some restaurants and a business lounge
